Yeah my female axolotl is full of eggs and the male is putting sperm around the tank hope all goes well as its the first time for all three of us. Really excited that all should go well as the temp here is very chilly. My only concern is after she has the eggs. thats going to be when I have to come in and look after them not sure how good ill go as these are my first. Really happy for both my axes:D

I was also wondering at what temp should the water be when she lays the eggs and also for the eggs when they hatch?

Through my experiance i've just kept the tank tempreture the same as always. Once i got all of the eggs transfered into "baby tank" I usually put in an air stone and a heater set to 22 degrees C. That's the highest you want the tempreture to be. They will develope faster in this kind of water as well. They will develope no matter what the tempreture is though.

I found these two links very helpful.

Thanks for your help. Is there a way to tell if she takes the sperm as the male has put sperm in the tank but she still hasn't laid the eggs could it be that my tank temp is too cold as its been sitting at around 16degrees celcius as its winter here. Shes gotten fatter since the sperm has been in there and moves around the tank like a pregnant women lol. Am I going to get any fertile eggs? Hope shes ok

3 days after i got my male (id only had the female 2 days before that), i found spermospheres in my tank and got so excited!!! so i went out and bought a massive 3 foot tank set up and waited and waited.. but i didn't get any eggs.. :( i wasn't aware before that the female could choose to pick them up or not but apparently she can.

have u had your axies long? the male could've been just 'claiming' his territory or something.. I'm not certain if they do that, it's just a thought..

hope u do end up with eggs though, that would be awesome!!!

Hi I've had my female for about a year and my male for 2 months he was only young but hes finally sexually mature that could also be why there was sperm in the tank he could be showing that hes old enough to breed. Thanks for your help. Still no eggs so she musn't of taken the sperm. There both happy and healthy thats all I can ask for.

Yeah healthy is good! I was so excited thinking i was going to get babies so soon that now that i didn't, i am really wanting them..

I'll just have to be patient though.. now i have more 1 on 2 time with my lotls before babies come along :)

ok so i know this is off topic but i wonder if you were to house 2 males and one female could she take sperm from both and have offspring from both males?

I have in my tank one female, two males. I've been told she is capable of being fertilized by both males... just waiting on bubs now.
