This cracked me up while i was cleaning the tank this morning... left is Yin and on the right is my partner's girl Muddy which i've adopted into my tank

(she had her foot suspended in the water for ages)

juliet, my wildtype has taken to balancing on things and staring at people in the room. last night her tail was just touching the sand balancing perfectly upright, with her head tilted to look out. her arms holding on to a shoot. legs outstretched. missed a photo, but she was like that for ages.
Friend of mine totally buzzed out on it

LOL sin, they are so cute!!!! I love Yins gills!!! So bright! Very healthy looking axie!
Actually, nice gills on both =))) Nice long stems!

lol! very cute axies. my leucustic does that to from time to time, it reminds me of the lizards that live in the desert how they only stand on two feet at a time so they dont over heat!

My melanoid, Lotle, does the SAME thing

I also caught her recently doing what Charlie's Juliet does. She was balanced on the tip of her tail, just back from the tank glass (but not holding onto anything) with her head tilted backwards just enough to keep an eye on Falkor on the ground behind/below. I got a pic of her doing it, will post it when I get a chance.

Know what you mean about friends "buzzing out"

My biggest tank is just inside our front door and no-one comes in without stopping. They are fascinated by my axies strange behaviour and tell me "They are SO WEIRD!" or stand there giving me a running commentary on every move the axies make. LOL

It cracks me up!

Yin and Muddy look like they are Line Dancing or maybe doin "The Hokey Pokey" They are gorgeous! So is your tank!

lol too funny Joanne, there's just so many silly things i've seen them do and haven't had a camera handy at the time. my partner fed my black one a mealworm one night, and there was a bit of the white flesh sticking out of his mouth which looked like vampire teeth, and when i got the big tank, i had it sitting on the floor in front of the little tank and the were all looking out at it longingly. Out of all the axies, it seems that yin's bonded most with muddy for some reason.. the biggest and the smallest in the tank, so it's rather funny to watch them both.

i moved my axie into her a 3ft tank with a chiller, her tank before was a 2ft and 27 degrees so she is starting to show these funny behavours, because she is in the lounge room it freaks my husband out cause she sits with her face pressed against the glass staring for hours, he was on the phone the other night to his brother and he just jumped of the couch and started yelling at me to look cause milky way was hanging in a plant with her arms spread just her belly on the plant, it was so funny but his brother on the phone thought we were weird, sorry for the long thread i could go on and on and on and on, oops i forgot to tell everyone that i pick my second axie up tomorrow (olive) i am so addicted now and so is my husband ha ha

oops also forgot what a cute pair of axies you have sin sister, what a great picture, i could carry pictures of my axie in my wallet so when people start to show me pictures of their kids i could show them my baby

...now THAT is pretty funny denise.... I can only imagine their surprised faces...
Love the photo Sin..... really cute.

Adorable axies! Like Laurel and Hardy, hihii. Don't the big axies pick on Yin's gills? What's the plant on the left? I would like to have that plant on my axie tank too, it is pretty and provides a bit of shade, too.
About axie pics in the wallet...I am always showing pics of my axies to my workmates. I am actually a lot worse with it than women with kids, lol. Even tho some of my workmates think they are ugly!

sorry for the delay in response, been flat out, the little one gets on fine with the big axies, if anything the little one snaps at the bigger ones only because he thinks they are food. The plant on the left is corkscrew val, it seems to be growing quite well only it's introduced hair algae into the tank and i'm damned if i can get rid of the stuff.

thats funny that you say your little one snaps at the bigger ones cause i bought a little one and put her in the tank with my big girl (about the same size ratio as your two) and i was starting to worry cause the little one nips at the my big girl but she never nips the little one back. mind you my little one is always hungry and nips at everything if it moves in the tank and my big girl is too busy watching to see what i am doin to notice anything in the tank moving let alone my little one

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
