Do many of you feed live Bloodworms to terrestrial newts?
I previously always fed them small or chopped earthworms but supplies are runing low and it hasnt rained in a while. So, last night I got them to take live bloodworm.
basicly I sprayed the tilted surface of a large rock and then put the worms on it.
They the newts came and grabbed them as they gradually cascaded down the wet rock, squirming for life... Up untill now I didnt have a good method for feeding them bloodworms terrestrially (doesn't really work with tweezers).
This may be nothing new to some, but it was a milestone for me, hehe..

I use live bloodworm to feed terrestrial newts, especialy newly metamorphosed juveniles who have been used to eating bloodworm as larvae.
All I do is to fold a piece of kitchen paper, wet it,place it on the tanks substrate, and add the bloodworm.
If the kitchen paper is sprayed twice daily, the bllodworm will live on there for a few days and the newts will come along and take them at leisure

How bout Sallies? I have some that I would love to try some different foods with, the flys are getting old quick!

I have used live bloodworm for salamanders and toads as well as newts, and am presently using as part of a varied diet for my red backed sals.
Small fire salamanders love live bloodworm, but I dont know if larger salamanders will eat them with the bloodworm being so small?? I cannot see why not though

hmmm, so a bufo bufo might take live bloodworms? on a paper towel in his enclosure?
This is useful to know

yes I am presently feeding young Bufo bufo on live bloodworm.
Toads seem to find it harder to take the bloodworm from kitchen paper, but keep on trying untill they manage

Dumb question but was there any luck with sallies on frozen thawed cubes? I just have yet to find any live foods like that in my area, all we have are mealies, supers, and crickets. Well along with the bait shops having wax worms and butter worms.
