pete
p.s can i just feed these all winter or should i find a way to vary diet thanks agian

You can use pinhead or 1st instar crckets as small live food.
Chris

Go to kingsnake.com to look for fruit flies. Pinhead crickets work fine, but you tend to have to order too many and they may grow to large before you use them. The flies will always max out at a usable size and actually can be cultured for a continuous supply.

ahhi was looking for salamander food under logs and i found like 6garter snae i pick-up one i reget that it like put off a bad odor and pooped on me

Mike, your site is an awesome sight!!! I love it, especially all the pictures of the cultures. One question: are "wood lice" the same thing as "pill bugs" and "rolly-pollies"? They roll into a ball when you pick them up?

can some one give me a good site that sells flightless fruit flies and thanks for the link mike ,do red backs eat ants ? both my red backs are looking healthy how do i tell if there male of female thanks again for the info

jennifer... they're all the same thing. and in reality, they are crustaceans

Peat, here are 3 decent places to get fruit flies, but there are many others:
livefoodcultures.com
edsflymeat.com
flyculture.com

Enchytraeus (whiteworms) are also a good idea, but it would take you some time to get a culture going.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
