Hello, here I am annoying the guys of caudata again! :D I just wanna ask another thing: My salamander stays buried or hidden on her little cave almost 24/7 it only comes out because of curiosity, which I have it, it's a good thing, what they do. My question is, how do I feed it? I don't wanna take it out of the cave, or wake it from its slumber, i think it'll stress the animal, also it takes ages to realise that there´s food around. So what do you recommend me? do I just leave the food (live food) in the place so the salamander eats by itself or what do I do????

I try to simulate natural happenings. I use a spray bottle and mist my tank 1st. Then after that I put live food in there. In the wild mole salamanders emerge from their dens when it rains or when its considerably moist and damp. Especially when moisture in the air fluxuates substantially they emerge in good numbers, then ofcourse they use these moments to stuff their stomachs. Not saying they won't eat under a log or rock. If you want to see your mole salamanders to come out and catch a glimpse of them eating outside their hiding places then this is a good way.

So, I did it, and it worked! It's really amazing, our salamander isn't quite used to the fact of a big hand on the tank feeding it, but it has become such a great hunter, we put crickets in its tank and in a matter of minutes they're all gone, thanks for the great advice!!!!
