Might be a daft question, but a few people on here keep mentioning feeding jars and im a little confused to how these work. And what size etc...
At the moment my little ones grab a cube of bloodworm and shake it all over the tank, making a right old mess everywhere. Im trying to keep on top of any left over food etc... and clear it out but recently Ive noticed the water starting to cloud slightly.
I have sand as a substrate and Ive been taking out the caves etc... to make sure I find it all.

Basically any ole cleaned out glass jar will do. You put the cubes of bloodworms inside the jar then very gradually let the jar fill up with tank water as you lower it to the bottom of the tank. This keeps all the bloodworms inside the jar, reducing the amount of food that gets spread around the tank. When your axolotl is done eating all you have to do is remove the jar and any uneaten food items that remain inside it.

ah....... As easy as that! Thats great thank you. Off to find a nice big jar, otherwise they will all be trying to squeeze in together :)

You can use several small jars, like the ones used for baby food or peanut butter. Also, a variation on this is to thaw the worms first and put them in the submerged jars with a turkey baster.

Ah they could have a jar each! :) Ill have to try and train them to which jar is theirs ha ha! When I first got them I was using a turkey baster to basically pop the food infront of them to stop them fighting for it but now they are use to each other the jar idea sounds perfect. Hopefully my water my clear too :)

I have 2 feeding jars in my tank, one for each aixe. Im also trying to teach Cookie (the new axie) where her jar is. Cookie eats her earthworms out of the jar and then when she is finished them I guide her into her jar to eat her bloodworms.
Abby knows where his jar is and he sees me open the top of the tank and he goes and stands near it waiting for his pellets(he wont eat earthworms) and then he goes into his jar for his bloodworms.

My axolotls bite the jars, not the food inside....the jars don't work for my axies :/.

aww... Id love them to be trained up enough to know where to go. They are getting more use to when feeding times are and moomin goes mad as soon as the food goes in. Its funny to watch, anyone would think I didnt feed them by the way they act :)
Bunny, Ive got a feeling mine might do the same, anything that goes into the tank they try and eat :)
