Iv always wanted to feed my axis live food but afraid of parasites , they seem to lay lots of eggs can u feed them the tadpoles as food source?

Um... you mean feeding them their own larvae? I would never recommend such a thing. If nothing else, it just feels inherently wrong.
Perhaps some others can chime in with their thoughts?

Many professional breeders feed surplus larvae to their parents or other species, they just don't shout about it because some people think it is 'wrong'. It happens all the time in the wild.

You can . If you are not intending to raise/ sell the eggs, I see no reason why you shouldn't to let the adults eat the eggs and larvae.

Okay then. I had never heard of anyone doing this. And yes, I did figure that it does occur in the wild. To purposely allow it to happen is just strange I thought.

To many it seems a bit weird!
But I think eating bugs is weird, and so is a vegetarian diet. Each to their own, and no-one will criticise you if you don't want to do it yourself.

Things like this aren't uncommon. People will feed frog eggs to their amphibians ( I think it is supposed to help females get gravid? ). People will feed frogs to there frogs or other amphibians, or salamanders to their salamanders. I have even heard of people going and collecting amphibians to feed to their amphibians ( which I wouldn't recommend ).
I don't see a problem with feeding them their own young.

I know this is a little off topic but my mom used to feed lizards to my pet bearded dragons and bacon to my pet pot bellied pig >.< it seemed super messed up to me but no one suffered any consequences from it I don't think I would personally intentionally breed my axies just to feed them the larva but if it happens... I think it's a better idea than just freezing them, at least the parents are getting the nutrients

In the wild the only real predators of axolotls before the introduction of tilapia etc were other axolotls (and maybe birds). I've seen my guys eat their eggs right as another lays them. I feed any larval axolotls to my frogs and fish all the time because I know where they came from. A few babies were developing with crooked spines or stopped eating so its better to feed them to something else before they die and foul the water. But you're right, its not something I brag about lol

Did you know Mexicans eat axolotls!! ..., I saw it on documentary. Lol those mexicans

When a mommy Lotl lays her eggs she is usually exhausted for weeks after, and feeding them the egg sac or larvae or even little babies will help her rejuvenate her energy. Just like in human nature when some mothers will eat the placenta. Its full of vitamins that the mom has lost due to the birth.

I don't see any problem with it and think it's a great way to 'recycle' them.
I currently have over 200 hatchlings and I hate to see them die because they can't get enough food and the others are bullying them. I would rather feed them to mom and dad so they aren't all for waste.

I know that everyone has their own opinions and some may think its unethical or wrong, but I personally don't see a problem with it.
