I have 3 C.Orientalis under a 15-gallon tank. I'm planning to add Red Cherry Shrimps to make my tank more lively. Are these 2 species compatible sharing one tank?

Already got one feedback about this, Steve(stavroske) says their compatible.
I need more feedbacks before I try to mix them. Because they're kinda expensive just to be
eaten by newts if ever. Thanks in advance.

They are an excellent choice. Healthy shrimp are normally too fast to be caught by H.orientalis. They might catch the odd one, but they will definitely not catch them faster than the shrimp reproduce. If you are worried that they might eat them too fast, you can always extend the quarantine of the shrimp (DO quarantine the shrimp for at least a month) and allow them to reproduce first in a separate aquarium,. then introduce as many as you want into the newt tank. Under ideal conditions you should have new generations in a month or so.
You will need lots of plants for it to work properly, though. The more the better. The shrimp will use them to hide and to feel secure in order to produce young (females may abandon the eggs if there are no suitable areas for the babies), plus they will get food from them.

Also, check this thread:

I tried this....
I put in 6 shrimp....One was eaten within the first hour or so (it seemed pretty dim to begin with)...the other 5 were fine for months until I moved them to a different tank.

The shrimp used to sit in the food bowl with the newts eating blood worms (brave shrimp!).

However my one problem that I encountered was that if the shrimp got a shock they'd dart quickly; and it would scare the newts. Otherwise they were perfectly fine together.
