FBN Hole in tail?

I just got my new newt today and it has a wound on its tail. I put neosporin on it and left him out on a moist paper towel for about 20 minutes.Is this a good idea?

What sort of wound? Can you describe it?

It is white inside and kinda deep about half way thorough the back end of the tail.I dont think its infected.

white??? one of mine had (and still has) a bite mark out of its tail but it wasn't white.

Cynops orientalis have good healing abilities i wouldn’t be too worried it its still eating and active keep it in a clean quarantine tank till it heals if u really get worried find a herps vet to have a look
