I was wondering if I could take water from a tank that I am getting ready to do a small water change to, into my tank that I am cycling for my axie?
I got the Carbi-Sea Instant Aquarium sand, I have had it going now for a week and still ZEROs all the way across the board , I know my guy is getting tired of the container and it's getting a little hard on me to do water changes everyday (due to my illness flaring up right now), But I would do the water changes twice a day if I had to.
It said on the bag of sand that 20 mins. after adding the water to the tank I could put live stock in it, but I wanted to test it first to make sure it was safe, and like I said it has been going a wk now and nothing, I have a small corner filter and an air stone running in it right now , I do have a few (5) plants in it but that's it, I have the chiller going also and the temp is staying at 17c to 18c degrees

This may not be the best advice but I want to help. I have always skipped the cycling process. it is completely manageable to do as long as you check the water everyday and if you get any raises in your numbers, change 15-20%. watch the water like a hawk though, it can spike pretty quick so don't skip a day until you know it has cycled. live plants make it easier too. and to answer your question, it has the possibility to speed up the process just because it already has the good bacteria in it. that doesn't mean that they will start to grow in the filter though, but it wouldn't hurt to try. just make sure that whatever tank you take it from has good clean water and the fish aren't sick. I hope this helps you and I hope that you start feeling better!

You can do a fish IN cycle but in my opinion it is a lot harder as you constantly have to keep an eye on the water parameters and do daily water changes! It seems a lot more stressful to me.

Have you read through this The (almost) Complete Guide and FAQ to Fishless Cycling - Aquarium Advice

its a good guide, but ignore the part about a 90% water change at the end and replace it with 30% once a day until the levels come down.

You need to have a filter running 24/7 and be adding ammonia daily to make a cycle start, so if your not adding ammonia daily then the cycle wont start off.

You say you already have a tank up and running, so you could take some ornaments out of it and put it in your tank thats cycling.

Personally i had a spare sponge filter so i left it in my cycled tank for a couple of days then i moved it over to my cycling tank along with some substrate and ornaments

Good luck!
