Eye Fungus Treatment?

My rough skin female newt had a sheet of white stuff coming out of one of her eyes, I took her out of her tank for closer inspection. When she opened her eyes one was normal and the one with odd stuff coming out of her eye was bright red; it looks like a fungal infection. I normally use antibiotic ointment, Neosporn, to (quite effectivly) treat fungal infections (and wounds) in fish, is it okay to use antibiotic ointment on newts? Or should I buy a different kind of medicine?

Neosporin is fine, as long as it does not contain the pain-killing ingredient they sometimes put in it. You can get more effective meds from a vet. If it's truly a fungal infection, Neosporin is an antibiotic and does not act directly against fungus.

Thanks, it does not have pain killer in it so I am going to try it (since it seems to work on fish). If she does not improve by tommarow I will have to nag my parents into to taking her to the vetrinarian.
