Eurycea lucifuga (cave salamander)

New to the site, so please bear with me. I am considering Eurycea lucifuga (cave salamander)as a new pet. Has anyone had any luck with these in captivity? Anyone have any special suggestions on this species? Also would it be possible to have both salamanders and frogs in the same tank? I have read alot in the last few days on the site and have found it very helpful. But, any specifics on this species would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kris, yes, quite a few people have kept lucifuga in captivity and they have been captive bred. As for the sal-frog question, you'll find it to get some pretty harsh answers here...the short answer is "no". I suggest reading up on the biology/ecology of the species very well...a good place to start would be "Salamanders of the United States and Canada" by James Petranka.
