Hi

Can you tell me, is it generally ok to keep all the usual eurasian newst in cool, unheated conditions, i.e. im thinking of setting up multiple vivs in my garden summer house, it is cool in summer, prevents freezing in winter and has full day n night cycles..

All my European caudata are kept in the garage throughout the year, with no additional heating unless I am trying to grow juveniles on through the winter. I have a large window which is north facing so the sun does not get to warm it up and stays cool. I think a summer house would get to hot in the summer .

European species will do fine. Asian species though might vary in resistance to cold...you´d need to check before acquiring any new species.

Hi Billy

Thanks for replying

My summerhouse is shaded and open but I have a massive double garage that is cool all year round, my only worry with that is the day n night thing, would I have to put normal light units in each tank for day, on timers or UV to replicate REAL daylight???
Or do they not mind being mainly in the dark???
