I was sick and normally take care of the axolotls they're tubbed currently because there was an algae bloom in the tank and I was trying to control it. I ended up letting my fiance do the water change which he's done before very carefully. But this time he thought he would help me by cleaning the tub because it was looking a little dirty so he used Dawn dish soap and cleaned it out he said he rinsed it multiple times but when I checked on them today they looked awful. They weren't moving there gills were shriveled up and their slime coat was coming off. I thought they were dead for sure and then when I was trying to take them out because they weren't moving they both moved so then I immediately put them in dechlorinated water that I used prime to condition and then I put stress guard in and a copper leaf. They've moved very little movement a few times in the last couple hours. I'm afraid they might be dead they're not really opening their mouths or anything but I don't know if they're in some type of State because they were basically poisoned by Dawn dish soap. I'm beyond upset so please no negative comments. I'm completely heartbroken. I also have a different air stone in there giving them air but I just don't know what else to do I tried calling the closest place and they said not to move them again and that there wasn't much more they could do for them than what I've already done. Do they go into a dormant state if they are sick any chance? Or do they have spasms after that maybe they're dead and I just seen them spasm? I really hope they're going to pull through I'm going to let them sit in the tub for the night and hopefully they'll start moving tomorrow their gills have started to uncurl and so have their tails but I don't know if they're still alive or not. Any suggestions or advice is welcome.
