, my little brothers C.orientalis have just unexpectidly started laying eggs there is about 4 eggs up to now but shes still laying.
I've never had larvae before but i'm going to give it a go raising them even though theres absolutly no room to keep them.

Congratulations Mark, they're pretty easy to raise as newt larvae go.

Thanks Nate + Jesper,
I've got a couple of questions:
1)Is it normal for the eggs to be half brown half white?
2)How long until the eggs hatch?
Thanks,Mark

*Is it normal for the eggs to be half brown half white?*
This is ment to say, Is it normal for the embryos to be half brown half white?

Mark question 2:

My eggs took 2 weeks or so. I believe temperature has to do with the time frame. My larvae morphed after a couple months or less. I didnt actually keep an accurate date so, Im guessing as I was raising other larvae too and these were unexpected. Normally the eggs are white with a CLEAR outer envelope. As time progress' The round egg turns into a CURVED type of "yolk" Im not sure about the brown, but if the entire egg turns ALL WHITE and nasty kinda, it's bad.

p.s. they are SLOW layers, and you may find a new egg every day or more.

It is normal for the embryo to be half brown, half white.

Good going Mark! Pass around the cigars!

In that case you should pass them instead of keeping them yourself - lol

Good luck with the eggs m8
