Woke up this morning to find my axie tank full of eggs :D Still haven't figured out how I"m going to get them all out. How long can I wait while I figure out the best way to remove them?

You can scrape them off ornaments or the floor/internal pipes etc with a firm finger. If they are attached to plants just remove the plants. They are held onto stuff with a slimey snot-consitency goo - it's pretty gross to handle but finger are far the best tool to get them off.

If you leave the eggs in the tank too long they are likely to get nibbled.

Once they are safely removed I find it useful to put them in a tub floating in my big tank - this gives better thermal stability. Frequent or big temperature changes in a small tub can kill the eggs (as I found out :().

The eggs are everywhere, on the plants, the filter, the hides......... I got most of them out, but as soon as I thought she was done, she started laying more.

I put what I managed to get out in a 20g long tank with a couple inches of water. I don't have any containers small enough to float in the main tank.

I used some plastic tubing to siphon the eggs out, seemed to work ok. My hands are to big to get into all the nooks and crannies she seems to favor.

Siphons can damage the eggs - we've had loads of stories about artificial premature hatching with siphons, thats why hands are best. I know how difficult it can be - I'm too short to reach the bottom of my tank!

Thanks Auntiejude, I will remember that next time. I'm hoping my siphoning isn't the reason that many of the eggs look non-viable, but this is also Quezi's first time. She's a big girl at 9 inches but is a couple months shy of being a year old.
