Last year my two older axies laid eggs, not fertilized, but they did it again about 3 weeks ago. Those eggs were fertile and there were around 150-200 of them I guess. Today she surprised me by laying some more, maybe 100 or so? Is this normal? I don't want hundreds of babies so often, I'm definitely not set up for that. I'm thinking of separating them now, but am curious as to what's going on here. Momma Jormu seems happy and healthy though at least...

Are you selling the eggs/juvies?^_^

I had to cull the last batch as I was leaving for a trip and unable to package eggs or be there when they hatched. :( but I'm ready for this bunch! These eggs are from my wild type and white albino, both beautiful specimens (at least to me) :D

Ooh keep us updated!!

My females lay eggs about once a month. Usually around 500 at a time. So yeah, 300 eggs in a 3 week span doesn't sound unusual. If you're concerned about having that many babies, you can always sell/trade/give away the eggs. I'm sure there are people on this site that would take them off your hands.

I'm glad to know my Jormu isn't abnormal then! By the time she was done that day there were over 250 eggs, I mailed some off today and kept a few to raise as I've had some people locally interested in my "swimmin lizards".

I have separated my axies now. My younger ones were big enough to join my older cuties, so I now have a boy tank and a girl tank. They're all getting along well and this way I won't have any eggs to worry about until I'm fully prepared!

Axies can lay eggs quite often, yes. The female carries eggs at all times, and chooses when to let them be fertilized with a spermatophore. She lays them, and takes about two to three weeks to recuperate (aka making more eggs in her belly)

My Dopey laid over 800 eggs last batch, about 10% of those were infertile. The rest were all developing. Gosh...
After laying, she was much thinner. She gets the same amount of food as all the other axies do, they're not overfed... and yet she's starting to look like a little ball again. Aka, she's probably carrying plenty of eggs again, just waiting for a spermatophore... lol.

A breeder would be very happy with her. Alas, I'm ill-equipped for dealing with eggs :p
