Me Again....
I got my newts (c.Orientalis) 7 days ago this Sunday....and to my knowledge they have not eatten yet. I have been refilling their food, so that it is always fresh and available and trying handfeeding everyday.....frozen bloodworms and chopped up earthworms. Other than that they have been left alone, so they can adjust (no light, no traffic, no people staring and poking; except for me at feeding time). The water is at 69 and I am putting a frozen water bottle in tomorrow (making them now) to get it cooler.
I am really worried now. They are starting to get active and look pretty good (a tad thin I think)....how much longer can they go. One is missing a arm, I know food would help him right now. I went out and tried to buy Melafix....no one at the store (lfs) could help me.
Suggestions please (I have some pics, if it would help anyone)....I really want to save these guys (even though I get the impression they are the stray cats and dogs of the newt/salamander world). Two have already died on me, and I feel horrible about it (even though it is common).
