Hi all,

Does anyone know where I'd be able to purchase earthworms in Queensland?

I've done a quick Google search, which brought back results for mostly mealworms. There is also the option of purchasing earthworms by the thousands...I'm not looking at keeping a colony.

I cannot harvest my own as I live in a shared house, although it would bring me great joy to see the disgust on my housemate's face.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sufia

Thanks, Chris.

It seems I'll have to bite the bullet and purchase worms by the thousands. It is, however, a good excuse to go fishing every weekend.

I'm not sure how they come packaged, but I ordered my worms from bucketofworms.co.uk
and they come in a plastic bucket with compost. I culture the worms in this bucket by feeding it food scraps and news paper. I have had my bucket for months and they are breeding perfectly.

Sustainable food source!

Wow...certainly no shortage there. They definitely take the "bucket of worms" quite literally, too.

Thanks again, mate.

Bunnings sells them in 1000 and 500 lots, but they are pretty small, rather expensive and require a while to get big enough to feed adults. I've been trying to sustain my 2 (now 3)on them and its a constant backwards race. I do borrow some from my parents big old compost bins but even they have limits.
