So I have discovered a pet store that has dwarf sirens and a amphiuma and I think it's pretty awesome that they actually sell these animals as I've never seen them in a pet store before

I have an empty 16 gallon tank so I'm thinking about purchasing one of the dwarf sirens.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with them and if they make good pets

I have no experience with them, but they look cool. haha. I think it's awesome that they can make noise too.

I ended up getting one

His mouth is so small I think the only thing I can feed is blood worms but he hasn't gone for most of the ones I put in last night

I noticed algae growing on them this morning , should I remove ASAP?

I have a sponge filter going as well

In general you need to take out uneaten food. It'll foul the water. It's weird if there's algae growing on the uneaten food. You sure it's algae?

I don't know if it's algae but there's certainly green clumps on the dead worms. Very weird that could happen over night

I'm going to take it out later although it will be kind of a pain because I have a sand substrate . Maybe I should just dump the sand and use a bare bottom tank

The only reason I had sand originally was because I was going to put an axolotl in this tank
