Hey everyone, today I updated my dobro tank(scraped buildup on glass, took out all decor and cleaned under, redid the setup, Cleaned filter, raised waterlevel.) Anyways when I stirred up the sand and added water it released lots of little(tiny) particles in the sand. I turkey baster the tank diligently so it suprized me on how much filth was in the sand. It took the filter a couple hours to clear up the water, now its pretty much clean. Overnight should finish it off. Anyways when I redid the tank, I set the filter to the weakest output current. My question is, will that reduce the amount of water cleaned per hour too?

less water passing through the filter means less water filtered... so yes it reduces the amount of water that is cleaned.

In addition to turkey basting, I would also recommend occasional use of a siphon with a gravel-washing attachment. This will get all the bits of crud out of the sand.

Oh, I didnt think that those syphons worked with sand. I thought they would suck up the sand too. I will try that soon.
