Does anyone have any information on drug delivery in amphibians. Specifically tiger salamanders. I wonder if their skin is able to absorb any kind of drugs?
Salamander skin is extremely permeable. Most drugs are delivered topically in amphibians. I've only had one occasion where I had to inject, and that was only initially, and then it was switched to topical baths.
Yes, with amphibians I 99% of the time deliver medications on the skin. The few times I have had to do injections, I had to make sure it was IM as I have had skin sloughing associated with subQ injections
