Did you read the part of the link on treating woods by boiling them? What kind of wood did you have?

I am always a little cautious about it .I have it in my cynops tank but axolotl seem to be in a different field, I would say. I guess I would compare it to going from a fresh water tank to a marine tank without the corals add plants and then its they same I have a lot of expertise, I guess.I am not sure these are going to be my first axies. I like the idea of boiling it but I do not even want to risk it any more, plus I am always at work and barely have the time. I will just do rocks and a pvc pipe, which I heard was fine. I have sand as a substrate.I was trying to go as natural as possible.I mean I am putting them in a 90 gallon surflline. I heard the more room the better with them so I am just taking some cautionary steps. I had the tank with the wood in there for a couple of days now with all needed measurements of water quality and what no,t but I am going to change most of that water today and take the wood out.

As always, my mantra here is "When in doubt, leave it out."

Better to be an overly cautious, borderline paranoid than risk accidental killing your critters.;)

(Though as most here can attest to, I'm far beyond "borderline paranoid" at this stage of the game...)
