Doodad doesn't come out of hiding very often. She did today and I was very pleased that she let me take pictures of her. I had to share.

A light coating of white sand is what the well dressed axolotl will be wearing for fall

Yea i was wondering what that white was, that would have been a neat coloration if it had the white. Doodad is definitely one cool axie!

Oh Cynthia, she is so adorable

I love how she has sand on her head.

it is so funny when that happens to axolotls, because they never really seem to mind

It's so sweet. I also really love her chocolate/purple coloring, very pretty!

Thanks. I really like her color too. I am still not used to seeing blue eyes though.

what a cutie!her eyes look like they are off a toy teddy or something.and the sand styles are definately all the rave!!how old is she?oh,and i love her name,Doodad,i havent heard that word for years!!lol

Thanks everyone.

Apryl - I got her in April of this year as a fingerling, so she is about 8 months old. I am impressed with her size she is larger than my other axolotls that are older than her.

Cynthia, when she reaches sexual maturity and her full size, are you going to try and breed her?

If she had babies and they came out chocolate like her, they would be little Hershey’s kisses

So sweet and cute!

Rheann - I wasn't planning on raising any axolotls unless I had homes for them first. And even then only a few eggs at a time. I have survived the "OMG I have 500 baby axolotls, now what?" once, I don't think I want to do that again lol

Does your axolotl still have bright blue eyes too?

Jordan - It was just something that came to mind when I looked at her. I was unsure what color she was going to be. When she was small she looked green to me, blue to others.

Doodad has the same colouring and patterns as my Bill. But the eyes are very different.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
