Hi
In my third year I have to look at a dissertation topic. I would like to do something with amphibians. I was thinking of working with mandarin salamanders. Looking at creating a micro habitat which would allow to look at behaviours and welfare. Or looking at projects their involved with. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions

For my various amphibian related research projects, I first look to see what is feasible (read that as "Can I get/support/afford this species?") and then analyze the available data. from there, I research into to areas I feel are lacking data, lacking repeatable data, or just plain non existent.

Current examples I am working on based on this method:

Identification of dermal secretion toxin of Neurergus kaiseri (my thesis)

Effects of cannibalism on non-ambystomid developmental morphology (personal obsession)

Effects of dissolved silicate levels on triturus complex species (informally)

And a ton of other stuff....LOL

I work on what is effectively no budget, so I often experiment with other's results to see if they are cannon or fluke.

I find Mendely desktop and Google Scholar to be immensely helpful.

Hi mandarin are quite expensive but a species I like working with. Is there any species you would recommend
