sit on the air stones?

Or air tube (depending on what you have).

I introduced a new air pump to Elsa's cage and she sits on it.

Is this harmful to her?

How do you know if the pump is too strong?

You really don´t need air pumps, I only used mine to increase the levels of oxygen for bacteria to grow faster. In my air pump my axies like to stick their faces in the bubbles and stay there for a while , never had a problem with that, not even a stressed axie.

Thanks Joáo - I know I don't need one, I just wanted one

Elsa seems to like it anyway...

Hayley - I read quite a few older posts about axolotls who like to sit over and play in air stone bubbles.

I had an airline ran under the sand and adjusted the bubbles down to just one large bubble every 3 seconds or so. The axolotls hunted the bubble and tried to eat it. I did see a couple of them sitting over it and letting it "bubble them".

lol

Guess it's like a jacuzzi for them

As long as its safe for her - I just thought that it was bad if the bubbles/water flow moved their gills?

As long as they can get away from the movement, there's no problem. Mine love their bubble-jacuzzi.

I always wanted Axolotls and my partner got me two for my birthday only a couple of weeks ago! YAY. A black one I call Lotle and a yellow one, Falkor. Both of them love to lay in the plant under the down current (where the water comes back out of the filter). The first time I noticed Lotle hanging out there I thought she was dead

But after tickling her on the belly she swam free

I am not so stressed bout their "weird" jacuzzi fixation after reading some of your posts. Cheers!!
