I think you are on the right track but there is still room for improvement
Get a ton more plants in there - live are best but fake can also be used. There should be so many plants that you can't really see the back of the aquarium. Floating type plants are great, especially for a newt that is just getting comfortable spending more time in the water. With floating plants, the newt will have resting places where it is in the water but not completely submerged. This type of setup helps water-shy animals to take the literal plunge
I would also recommend increasing the water level, especially once the newt is spending more time in the water. The more water you have the more stable your water chemistry and temperature will be.
The newt does appear to have a decent weight right now. Is he still not eating since you first posted? What types of food are you offering?
I have added more plants and put a bit more water in the tank. He had only ate once (before the post) and is getting whitish scales from being dry I spray him with water from the tank. He dosent seem to like the water at all. I offer live bloodworms live earthworms, freeze dried shrimp and freeze dried blood worms he has only ate a small price of earthworm about the size of his tail. Should I just be patient ? Or should I be worried?
