Hello there
We have two Axies ( hugo and george) who have lived together happily, basically all of thier lives, (they are about a year old). Hugo has recently produced larvae for the first time (a bit of a surprise). which we have separated. Hugo has now produced another lot of larvae about three weeks later. We do not want to separate them but worry that Hugo's health will suffer because of this constant reproduction. Is this the case?? Hugo's health is paramount but as they get on so well we would rather not. They have a large tank and are generally in good health. If it's just a case of dealing with the larvae than that's fine..

There's no problem in it, just leave her where she is. You might consider changing Hugo's name into Hugette though ;)

Goodluck with the larvae!

Producing eggs alot over and over again can stress and wear out a female axie and even shorten their lifespan. Also I doubt you could cope with that many larvae if she keeps producing them every three weeks could you? If I had them I would seperate them with a tank divider that a spermatophore can not get through or put them in seperate tanks until you are ready for more larvae and then let them breed but then separate them again.
