Seen a few things I thought were cute- things like the typical opening and closing treasure chest sort of idea.
I was wondering if its the worse idea ever to get something like that? or if there are conditions of doing so?

I thought about getting one once, then decided my silly axies would probably get stuck in it or something. I don't know, maybe someone else has had some success with it though?

I'm thinking along the lines of something that if its big.. it doesn't close completely to avoid harm.. or something mid size/small to be hoisted off the floor of the tank to avoid feet and tails from being sucked in etc... But I'm not sure if this would still be ok

Like Quentari said, an axolotl might end up getting stuck in one. They tend to be pretty curious about things and might end up getting into trouble. I think if you wanted an ornament that moves around and such, you could get one of those little divers or something similar. While searching around, I found a website that has a few good examples of animated ornaments that wouldn't harm your axolotl. I wouldn't. My axies are interested in anything that moves - it's either food or it's my hand bringing food, or it's at least worht having a chomp at. They even bite at plants that move in the current crated by another axie swimming past. They would probably injure themselves by trying to attack it or by just being too curious.

We used to have a Grim Reaper ornament with a toilet next to it - a bit random, but hey - and when a bubbler was attached Toothless used to swim straight up to it. A few times it smacked him on the nose. Because they can't see very well and because the 'snap at anything that moves' stimulus is so ingrained in them, I really wouldn't add anything that moves in my own tanks.

I have a small Jazz Airstone (from Interpet, they're small cylinders that release oxygen and bubbles into the water) which of course is fine. But big ornaments with moving parts...I wouldn't want to risk it. Just my two pennies.
