i have had my hand in my tank plenty of times since i have had my axies...but now i want to properly start hand feeding them worms and stuff and i just wondered will it hurt if one of them nips me when my hand is in there tank...oh and if it helps they are about 9 inches now.

I don't think it would hurt much at all although I don't have an axie...yet.

No from what I read they don't, if you do get bit don't try to pull your finger out of the mouth, just let it let go on its own because you don't want to damage the axolotl.

Axolotl bites don't hurt at all. My biggest ones are fed by had and will readily bite any finger within a short distance. It feels like sandpaper or velcrow...at least that's how I think it feels.

Their teeth are very soft and rubbery, and are only designed for gripping - not cutting or chewing food. When mine bite me it never hurts but always makes me jump!

I have been bitten by my new axie Bubbles the bite didn't hurt a bit but it sure made me jump.

I agree, it doesn't hurt at all. The only thing you get is a heart attack when you don't expect it

No t doesn' lol but they dont let go to easy if they got u tho(or at least mine doesnt lol)

I always let them bite me in the tank when I'm cleaning, I love it

It doesn't hurt one bit, and after a while you won't jump anymore. They prefer to bite in the worms, though..

I've been bit plenty of times. My albino Powder thinks thinks look far more appetising than any food. I always relate it to a lovebite, due to the sucking. I actually had a small 'love bite' on my hand from my wild axie once!

I think its more the shock of getting bitten my little deaky bites and wont let go last time it took about 5 mins of floating him round the tank to get him to let me go lol you can bearly feel it (though the grip is suprisingly strong) their teeth feel like very fine velcro

Mine bit me all the time...its just a shock as they do it so fast

*grins* They like to grab - my partner is too scaredy to let them bite him.

But no, doesn't hurt a bit - but as carrie says, they like to be hauled about a bit. Be gentle with them, and they'll figure out pretty fast you aren't particularly edible.

Axolotl will try anything...

Axolotls bites don't hurt it feels like a velcro feeling it's more of the shock factor that is the more scary part. My salty mama got me one time and there were the smallest imprint on my finger she's one greedy lady. But I own 9 and she was the first and last to nip me.
