This isnt exactly in the right topic but it is an axie health concern.

Is there anyway to put a divider in my 20 long to prevent any water transfer without sealing the acrylic sheet in place?

I plan to get an ACF and I know the worries about Chytrid but I am moving next summer and am upgrading them and selling the 20 long so I dont want to do anything that could damage it if it can be prevented.

BTW its suppose to be dividing ...

I think I've suggested this to you before, but why don't you wait to acquire animals until you can provide the appropriate housing?

How is 10 gallons each inappropriate housing? Its the minimum for both species. Not ideal but not inappropriate housing. 10 gallons for one ACF and 10 gallons for 1 Axolotl.

You can use aquarium safe silicone to install the divider then easily remove it by sliding a blade up along the glass - then using a window scraper blade to remove any left over silicone. Just make sure to soak & rinse well before using it.

Is it really that easy to remove? I have always had HORRIBLE luck removing it.

Why don't you wait until you can get a separate tank for the acf? I don't really understand your desire to keep an axolotl and an acf in the same divided tank. I have kept acf's for 11 years and axolotls for almost 2 years and that thought would have never crossed my mind . My frogs live in a 30 gallon, and my adult axies have a 40 gallon. You are right about one thing, 10 gallons is the bare minimum for both species. I would honestly feel pretty guilty keeping my babies in minimum housing. Excuse me for not knowing how to word this differently, but it just seems selfish that you want to get an acf to share your axolotls tank. Why not give the axie the full 20 gallons ?

he has the full 20 and it was just an idea. i usually never keep animals in anywhere near minimum housing. I have a DCN for 3 rats , a 5 gallon for a single betta, and my 40 long was set up for my hamster.

The problem is my boyfriend wants me to downsize which means down to one tank.

Lose the boyfriend, get more tanks.

lol ... I actually talked him into letting me have a bin tank ... 14.5 gallons ...

My argument, I am not using my nightstand anyway ...
