If you just happened upon them at a pet shop, the odds are that you have C. orientalis, simply because most Cynops in the pet trade outside of Japan are orientalis. And I do know that you get orientalis there in Singapore because the ones that I keep here in Japan actually came here circuitously through Singapore!

Sorry, I hadn't read your initial post carefully. You were talking about Kanto pyrrhogaster. True, the tails of Kanto-type pyrrhogaster can be quite rounded, but the animals are significantly larger than orientalis and the skin texture rougher, etc.
Just for the heck of it, I might even take some comparison pics after I get home tonight
