Hi everyone. I have a little problem.... my friend put our axolotl in our new aquarium but didn't wash the sand first... actually it's calcium carbonate substrate.... and while it's clearing up, I'm afraid to put our axie back in yet so he's in tupperware.... do you think i'm okay to put him in while it's not toallly clear yet????

Personally, I wouldn't put him in back in the tank, no! I would however, recommend you find a way of washing the sand.

I'm with Cathy on this one. Calcium carbonate sand will dissolve in the water, and can cause problems with your water quality.

If I were you, I would take the axolotl out, and remove all the sand and water from the tank and start over with a more appropriate substrate.
