Development Theory

If you read my below thread the URGENT HELP one you will understand this better. If not ill explain straight out.

When i got my 3 babies they were all same size. Over the weeks i watched them grow bigger and bigger and the one that is really sick now and the smallest was actually bigger than the other 2.

Now the other 2 have matured and you can actually tell their features and tell they are actual axolotls. But looking at Bali (sick axie) i can see that she looks under-developed.

So. She developed up to a certain point then she stopped. Then, started to go backwards. Going from developed to undeveloped stage.

Because looking at her now her parts are not formed, still like a baby baby. But a few weeks ago you could see the development.

So i have come to a conclusion that she must have some kind of genetic disorder© that at a certain point in her life her growth will stop then the process reverses.

She looks very frail and basically we are preparing for the worst. But i have seen some threads by people stating they saved their axies at the last minute and i am going to try and do the same.

I cannot prove that the theory© i have is true but to me it is a pretty damn good one or does anyone esle have any ideas why she would seem to go backwards in development after developing proply.

Brendan,

I dont think a animal can develop backwards... after it has gone past a point.

For example a adult or teenaged human cannot develop back into a child...

Just a thought

I don't think they can either. What I think you are seeing here is your axie is fighting this sickness so hard that her body is using all of the energy it would have used to grow to fight the sickness. It's like with terminally ill people (or any animal for that matter), they tend to "waste away" and this can make them have the appearance of going backwards in development.

I think your axie is a fighter, so I hope you are able to find a vet to take her to! Good luck and keep us updated!

Can't think of any instance where an animal regresses to an earlier state. It sounds like an illness but I see Paris responded to your other thread.

There are genetic disorders in humans in which certain characteristics seem to regress (such as rett's syndrome, Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, demyelinating diseases, and others) most of these affect function more than structure, but it seems possible that something similar could occur on a larger structural level.
