So, I've gotten one batch of baby Axolotls a couple of weeks ago and am currently raising them in individual deli cups. I'm going to be receiving another batch of eggs here in the next couple of days and was wondering if it was best to raise them in individual deli cups or in a tub together until they get bigger? I asked this question in one of the chat rooms and was told to do a "pond tank" -- which I picked up that you basically go get water from a pond, any pond and do a 50/50 pond water/tap water. Is that really safe to do? My current babies I'm feeding baby brine shrimp and they eat those just fine.

If you put your babies in altogether you run the risk of them having a chomp at each other.
I raised my babies in a 3ft tank with lots of hiding holes so it does work. I would do what is easier for you.
As for the pond water Im sorry I cant answer that because I have no idea but I would think that you would be opening yourself(well your axies anyway) up for parasites in the water.

I would just want to keep the babies together until they could eat frozen bloodworms/brine shrimp and not live food. I think my next batch of eggs I'm going to try the communal raising and see how that goes. My first batch of eggs have not turned out so well. I ordered 30, had over 50 hatch out and I only have about 5 left now that are doing fine and I had them in separate deli cups. The high death rate is probably due to some days with me getting to their water changes too late.
