Is it possible to have old for sale adds and wanted adds deleted? Lately it seems like people are asking about adds that were listed over a half year ago. It also seems like some members like to post to old threads or hijack threads instead of starting new threads.
Michael

Yes I can do that.

I've deleted FS adverts over 6 months old. I am not sure if I should do this for wanted adverts too since they may still be valid. Thoughts?

I think an expiration on ads is a good idea. For FS ads, maybe 1 month (if the animals are still available after that, people can bump their own ads), and Want ads, 3 months?

I just don't understand why want adverts need to expire so quickly?

Or not. I thought 3 months was a pretty appropriate length of time.

Thanks John for deleting old for sale adds. I don't think the wanted adds are as much of a problem.

Maybe they do not expire so quickly - but this might be just the same as for "FS" - ads (I just remember the first time I tried to sell some of my juvenile axolotls - took me almost a year).

What about an expiring date (3 months) with a prolongation if the thread-starter gives a reply that this ad is still actual?
Of course it would be best if any starter of such a thread would give a short notice when all animals are sold / all wanted animals have been found.

What if we required members to post an expiration date with their ad? If they did not include this, their add would not be approved. The member could also always go back and request an extension if needs be for their ad. Just brainstorming....

Is it possible to put in an easy delete by the poster? I've been vaguely considering buying eggs and looked at strings where the last entry is "all gone". Perhaps the thread should have gone at this stage too! Three months automatic deletion seems reasonable. Most of the animals for sale are eggs or juveniles and merit re-description and re-posting if still available. Re-writing copy four times a year does not seem unreasonable!

I can make it so the thread creator can delete the whole thread if they wish, but only in the For Sale section. I honestly don't like deleting old adverts because it's a nice record of who has what :p.

Can the thread be locked so no one can post when the item (s) have gone. I think deleting the thread may stop people looking in the for sale/ buy sections, it would seem that little gets advertised.

OK everyone in the Registered Users group can delete their own advertisement threads now (which is everyone since everyone is a member of the Registered User group, even if you are a donor, or something else too).

How do I do that?

Click on the "edit" button on the bottom right hand corner and see if "delete" comes up as an option.

The only thing I saw was the button that says edit tags. My guess is I just have to ask a nice moderator.

Let me know which ads you specifically want deleted and I'll take care of it. Though I'm not always this nice.

She lies. She is usually nicer.

Did you try editing the main post and then clicking on the advanced options button to see if there is any delete link on the page that loads? Unfortunately, since I don't have a test account with privilege in that forum I can't poke around for you, Michael.

You can post the links here and someone will take care of them for you.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
