So eventually i want to put my axies all together in my 3" tank. they wont go in there for around another 2-3 months but the thing is one is around 4' and the others are 6 weeks(and about 2-3cm).

My plan was to put them all in with a divider for the bigger one, but im not sure how deep the water can be?

I guess my main question is what water height is best for axies?

I know the general rule is not much deeper than the axie is long but like ive mentioned, i have an older/bigger one and lots of little ones. Would it harm the babies to have the water deep?

They are not staying in the tank permanently, just until i sell them btw as im only keeping 3 in total.

I'm not sure where the 'as deep as they are long' rule came about, but it's bunk. I mean, axolotls are lake-dwelling creatures. They do fine in water that's deeper than they are long. I don't think you can make water too deep in a home aquarium setting.

In my adults tank my water level is around 2 and a half ft deep. But with my juvies the deepest i would probably go is 1ft deep, as they grow much bigger you can then raise the water level.

I thought it was due to maybe water pressure making it hard to reach the surface?
that was just my thought hahaha

Thanks for the quick replies :D

Water pressure is only an issue at extreme depths. Like Jodie said, you can keep tiny larvae shallow, but adults will do just fine at any depth. Again, lake-dwelling critters. They had no problems surviving until humans came along and screwed their habitat all up.
