today my father went and purchased me some mealworms from a pet shop i usually dont frequent. Anyways, he brought them back in a small container with bran. When i opened it i noticed they werent moving. I asked my dad why he bought dead worms. He told em that the pet shop employee removed the worms from a freezer and that they would defrost. It sounded bizzare and 1 day later, they still remain immobile. I am going to return them to the pet shop but is this possible?

heck no! mealworms can't even survive 40 degrees let alone be frozen. they're still food, but picky eaters will stay away from them. you can freeze worms.

In my opinion, the pet shop SHOULD refund your money, or exchange them for a fresh batch. Don't use them, they have been decaying since you got them.

i already switched them, they were black and i bought some nice fat ones. I see that they are crawling from their food dish and burrowing into the coconut husk, is thi a problem? i have a fire salamander and i still havnt seen him eat once. There are also crikets in there, and they are dissapearing so i hope that because hes eating.

I think crickets are better. Less crusty, and higher in protein. Be sure to use a good quality vitamin/calcium powder.

The pet shop could have possibly taken them out of the fridge.
Mealworms are usually kept in bran(which they eat) and put in the fridge.
Keeping mealworms in this bran at room temperature would make them not last as long.
When put in the fridge they sort of go into a sleep state.
