I've read about a few people not using brine shrimp at all and instead using daphnia. i know full grown daphnia is to big to feed newly hatched axies. but when you have a culture you are feeding your axies daphnia in all life stage, small babies and larger adults. so having said this can i use a daphnia magna culture to feed newly hatched axies ? will the baby daphnia be small enough for them. And how long can i feed them daphnia magna before they reject it and i need to feed them pellets.

thanks

i heard of this as well after mine were already on daphnia and away from the BBS!

Man i wish i knew it before hand!

yea if i can i want to stay away from brine shrimp, it sounds like such a pain. daphnia seems like the way to go. i just hope daphnia magna are okay.

Daphnia pulex is better, but yes, freshly born magna are just small enough for new larvae to eat.

You can feed them daphnia probably until they're 1 - 1.5 inches. Then it's better to switch to something a little bigger.

A good alternative, if you have a steady source, is blackworms. They're aquatic, as nutritious as earthworms, and can be used for a variety of sizes.
