is it ok for daph's to live in with baby axies? the axies are 2.5-3cm at the moment and im wondering if it is safe or whether the daphs will try to eat the axies gills?

thanks

Dan

I have a few daphnia in the tank with my baby axies without any problem, my babies have been ignoring them lately and going after the baby mosquito larvae and live bloodworm. Since the daphnia's been ignored for the bigger mozzy larvae, I notice they've reproduced and are more in the tank than I put in.

Thanks.

I have all my babies on their own in individual tanks so ive put some daph in a few to see how it goes for a few days before risking it. unfortunately daph and bs are the only live foods i can get hold of in my area. I dont particularly trust buying live foods off the net after a friend bought some live blood worm that ended up being riddled with disease. The baby axies are eating frozen bloodworm but i prefer giving them live food as well so that i know they are all eating something.

How many babies do you have? I only have 5 but am looking after both sister's axies, 5 extra babies and 10 adults, while they're on holiday (school holidays here). Do you have a wormery, mine also eat baby earthworms from wormery but I chop the bigger ones so they're manageable, bout size of a live bloodworm. Mine are greedy guts they eat live bloodworm, but not frozen bloodworm (smells anyway, and I'd rather feed the live stuff). Mine won't touch bs so much now, but I have heaps of mosquito larvae and daphnia, few bloodworm and the baby earthworms to feed them.

i have 15 left out of 30 cos the pet shop didnt order me any bs when i asked them too so the smaller ones died. i now have a male and female adult so im hoping to get some more eggs to raise by the time these babies are ready to go to their new homes.

very nice! I kept mine in individual margarine containers for the first few weeks. They must keep you busy! At least with daphnia, what they don't eat won't foul the water like brineshrimp and they may reproduce

Hi My babies are 2.5 - 3cm at the moment, and they all have pretty much lived with daphnia all there life and are doing great, just getting front legs now!!!

Your babies sound very cute are you planning to keep them all?

I usually raise my axolotls surrounded by daphnia. Then they can get their fill and snack on them later if they don't get enough.

Dan where did you get those little tanks/tubs from.....i think they are great!!!
