My sweet problem child has finally been fungus free for around a month now for the first time since I got her back in November. Finally! After changing her feeding routine , adjusting salinity and doing less frequent water changes, she seems to not be as stressed (no vet could tell me why she kept getting fungus. The parameters were perfect).
However around two months ago, I noticed the back of her neck by her head has been bulging. It’s gotten slightly more puffy over time. I am not sure if she has a cyst in her neck or what it could be.
Her health problems have been pretty consistent and she is much smaller than lotls I have had before. She’s had to have at least 20 fungal infections since November no matter what way I treated her.
I don’t know if it’s just some genetic abnormality or if she has some illness. She is a year and 2 months old now and I would say she’s about 8 inches. Maybe my other lotl is just big but she looks tiny compared to him still.
Any ideas of what could be wrong?

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
