Ok I feed my 6 juvies say about 80 fruit flies every 2-3 days. I notice when I check on them 24 hrs after the feeding there are usually only 1 or 2 flies left in the enclosure. This is great because it means they are eating. Visual observations shows them to be active and they look like they are holding good weight. I suppose I should invest in a digital scale and check their weights every once and awhile. But I guess my question is should I increase the fly feeding density so the qty of flies remaining after 24hrs is higher. I am adding springtails 1-2 times a week, and they are getting gobbled up because I really have to search for springtails really hard to find any. I also add blackworms to a feeding dish 2-3 times a week. Maybe I am just over thinking this but I just want to make sure I am providing my newts the best possible chance.

I think that if you find a few FF left over at the next feeding, you are feeding the perfect amount. Vary as needed to achieve that - if they are all gone, start adding more.
