Hi Tomas,

You've posted this question in the wrong section of the forum. I'll be moving it to the "Newt and Salamander Help" section later today.

You may find this article helpful:

And be aware that your thread will be transferred to the Newt and Salamander Help section of this site as it is neither a Caudata.org announcement nor Caudata.org news

Ah, seems Nate beat me to it by a split second! No prob, Tomas.

Aside from that article, you might want to run a search for bloat-related threads here at caudata.org via the search function in the thread title line at the top of this page.

I used to think that bloat was practically incurable, but I have since "cured" three animals through the use of vet-prescribed antibiotics. Still, two of those animals later died within months of "recovery" (without being bloated at the time). I've heard of a case in which a bloated animal was still alive after several years, all the while with bloat (or at least a swollen throat).

I'd like to see some input on whether it is advisable to keep a normally aquatic animal with bloat in water or remove from it to land -- though I'm not sure whether it would make a difference either way.
