I am getting 2-3 one year old Cynops e. p. next summer and want to completly prepared. I have a 35 gallon tall aquarium right now. Its measurements are 30 long, 22 tall, and 12 wide. Is that appropriate? Or should I buy a tank with more surface area? Also will they be aquatic by then? How deep of water would they like? Temperatures? And when are they sexually mature? What type of filtration? Good food items? I dont have access to live white worms/blackworms/or blood worms. How about frozen blood worms, ghost shrimp, night crawlers/earth worms?

Thank you Midnight. I read that, but I want opinions from experienced keepers. Does anybody who keep this species have any answers?

You are missing the point. That care sheet was written and edited by expert, experienced keepers and provides answers to your questions. Redundancy provides no value. If you have specific questions that aren't answered in the care sheet, then ask those questions.

I have to agree with Jan. You seem to miss our care sheets and articles frequently. There is also the search function where you can have many of your questions answered easily.

That tank you are looking to use is awfully tall. I think there would be a lot of wasted space if you were to use that with newts as you would only want to fill it about half full.

I am going to get a 30-50 gallon long or normal for the 2-4 newts I am going to get next summer. I do have a question and I did read the cc article. Do most Cynops ensicuada popei one year olds want to return to the water or is it about 50-50 of the population?

By one year of age, nearly all of them can be persuaded to return to water. But it depends somewhat on the setup. If they are put into a tank with a big comfortable land area (like soil and lots of hiding places), they may choose to stay on land. If the keeper wants them to be aquatic, the land area(s) should have minimal cover.
