My little cynops was fine yesterday yet today I was doing a quick water change and noticed the poor guy is dragging his hind end. It has very little back leg movement.

The cloaca looks a bit goopy. What's going on with my little guy? Like I said before, he was fine up till today. It's as if he's got a broken back... Any suggestions??

I had an eastern newt that suddenly developed a similar problem (couldn't move the back legs). It lived like that for a week or two, then died. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions other than the obvious - isolate the newt and try to make it comfortable (very shallow water maybe).

Jen, this is what my eastern newt did too...just before it passed on....

Looks bad...Is he eaten? What temperature do u have it?
Any other signs?
Wish u luck Meg
