Hey,have'nt been on here for a while. Was wondering do you need to cycle a newt tank?I have my kaiseri in a cycled tank right now but since I'am going to be switching kaiseri from aquatic and terrestrial,it would be annoying to cycle it every year.Yeah I know I'am lazy lol.But if it's not necessary why bother? But if it's needed then I'll cycle it every year lol.

I think you're confused here. You only have to cycle a tank once. The purpose of cycling is to establish a hefty bafteria base that aids in lowering unwanted toxins naturally. Allowing your fish or in this case newt to thrive. So to answer your question yes imo it is however you can get away with not cycling. It will just hamper the longevity :)

Eft,
Just set the aquatic tank up 2 weeks to a month in advance before they are put back into the aquatic setup if you want to cycle.

Better yet, just throw some fish or something else in your tank when its empty, even a few big snails will do it. Anything that produces waste will create amonia/nitrite to feed your beneficial bacteria and keep them alive. Then you tank will keep its cycle and be ready for your newt when you decide to put him back in.

I like that idea, never thought of it.I will just keep them in a kritter keeper for those 2 weeks while I'am cycling the tank.

Yep start it early and add a bunch of tough plants like java moss to help!
