Hi guys,

Question about cycling my axie tank. Firstly, I cheated. I ran an extra filter in my tropical tank for several weeks (It already had two small ones,) then took out one of my old, established filters and put into new tank with stones (not gravel) and a few plants from my tropical tank. I've also siphoned out some fish waste from the old tank and put it into the new (don't worry tropical tank is v.healthy) so it has a source of ammonia. 24 hrs later all readings are good (API freshwater.) I'm not collecting my axies until next weekend so will I need to keep topping up the ammonia source each day so as not crash it? If so will a pinch of fish food do? Or will I need more fish poo?
Thanks

If you can find pure ammonia id dose that . If you google fishless cycle you can get an idea of dose level , then your bacteria can stay established and you can check all is well. Then the day before give it 50% water change then another smaller later so your tank is nice and stable.

Frasertheking thanks, but it's unlikely I'll be able to get hold of pure ammonia in time, what with living out in the sticks an all. What would be the best alternative?

if you already have fish food might as well just put some of that in there.

Excellent. Thanks people. :D Didn't want to crash it. And Aimzs Lotties, it will be like having imaginary axies
