I’m moving my axolotl into a 40 gal breeder tank and I was wondering how long thanks usually take to cycle if they have material from an already cycled tank in them? I have a cycled 10 gallon that my 40 gal will be receiving decorations from I’m just unsure if this will be a long process like initial cycling or a relatively quick one? Also according to the “rule” I know a 40 gal breeder is suitable for 3 axies but I’d like personal opinions on how many axies should be living in a 40 breeder?

Decorations don't have much beneficial bacteria on them, so I wouldn't expect a quick cycle with just those. However, if you move the filter media, as that's where the bulk of the BB live, it will provide an instant cycle.

As acacia said, the filter is the best thing to get the cycle going. Since it is a much bigger tank there will be a lull period, and a bigger one will likely need a larger filter. If you get a larger filter you can probably fit some of the old media into the new one to get it going.
If you have substrate it's a really good way of bringing in beneficial bacteria.
There isn't a strict timeline for cycling, some people get it going really quickly and others can take months.

Thanks for the replies! Should’ve mentioned I’ll also be moving sand and my sponge filter to the larger tank! Hoping for a quick cycle :)

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
