Curious Axolotls

Hello, awhile ago when I first got my Axolotl, he is called Poseidon. :happy:
I set up his tank in my room and he seemed very curious about everything. His tank was right next to my bed so he could get a very close look at me since I always lay in bed.
I noticed that he would come right up to the side of the tank and watch me like a little cute stalker, it would always make me smile cause it looked like he was observing me and getting to know me.
I also have a tv in my room which I like to play games and watch movies on, I would notices him coming right up to the front of the tank as if he was watching! :rofl: It looked so cute!
Sadly he doesn't do it anymore but he only comes to side of the tank nowadays when he wants food. :wacko:

So does anyone else have any curious Axies and cute stories? :happy:

Yes, axies generally like to watch people, TV and everything else going on around them.
Try moving their ornaments once a month - they think you've moved them to a completely different tank!

My axolotls always seem to come to the front of the tank every time i enter the room
and they go nuts whenever i play guitar around them, the also tend to follow my other fish
(which are in a tank next to them) and try to scare them so they swim away.

They can be surprisingly silly creatures

Most of what I have read shows that Axolotl have very poor eye sight. I believe they have electroreception so can sense electrical impulses to an extent. They also have a lateral line system to detect vibration and movement in the water. They most likely sense any sort of movement or vibration and associate it with food and begin being interested. Considering they came from murky lakes they probably don't rely on eye sight but use their other developed senses.

They certainly do seem like they are inquisitive though
