I bought a whole new tank set up and it kind of looks like this, but what I’m wondering is if it’s safe to put quartz in a fish tank for my Axolotl’s like in this photo.

I just bought a bulk of them and was wondering if these were ok. They’re 100% natural.

Quartz is inert. Most sand is made of quartz. But they will collect algae and that algae will be extra obvious on the crystals surface. /Shrug

Also, don't put anything in the tank that's smaller than the axolotl's head, or it will get eaten. Stick to objects twice the size of their head, just to be sure.

Can I still put it in the tank anyway?

I know lol, Ive had my axolotls for 6 years. I was searching for 3 hours, I kid you not, for crystals that were 6 inches or more. I just wanted to make sure that putting crystals in there was safe

I see no problem with quartz, like said in another post most sand is made of quartz.

Hello. I just noticed two notches, white small bubbles on the hind legs of one of my male newts.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. I also asked this as an actual question in a thread in case anyone wants to answer it there instead of here
